It's two in the afternoon and my mom has already gone to bed. I don't know how to say "What is your internet password?" in German or Polish, and if I did, I would be too shy to ask. Kind of like how I am with my English-speaking cousins. So we'll see when this post goes up.
Most of today wasn't actually spent flying. Just midnight to 2am, though technically until 7:30am. Time zones are confusing little buggers when you're flying through them. Point is, I want to talk about flying.
Flying is just...really cool. There's a unique feeling to being above the clouds. It shouldn't be right. You don't fly above clouds. But I love looking down at the shapes and the colors and taking photo after photo of the sky. And no matter how uncomfortable it may make other people feel, I think I'll always be that girl who gets a bit excited when the plan tips really far one way in turning.
Then there's the feelings of touching down in a new city. I've been to Germany before. I've sat on this exact same bed, biding time while the family member who came with me slept. But I'd never set foot in Brussels, Belgium, and touching down their just made me really love traveling. It was worth driving roughly four hours to the airport, sitting in the terminal with my anxious mother, and then sitting in a plane for "I-lost-my-sense-of-time" hours (By the way: on the plane, I watched Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and Up. I was angry at the plane for having all three Twilight movies that are out but no Harry Potter ones. I also watched a couple episodes of The Office and one of Glee. And I played Pokemon White. My Tepig evolved into a I'm-tired-and-forgot-the-name*, and it is one BAMF).
Maybe I'm just thinking about this because I spent the entire time imagining how kick ass a Thoughts From Places video I could make if I'd filmed a ton of what had happened to me in the past 26 hours. Vlogbrothers, anyone?
I really don't have much else to say. I was hoping to snag a spot on Pottermore today, but I've probably missed it and I don't know the internet password. So.
Today was mostly my mom chatting up a storm in Polish with family members while I sat back awkwardly not knowing what was going and legitimately thinking about what I was going to change my Facebook status to. I'm so cool, bro.
Aside from that, we visited an Eis Cafe, looked at the massive hole they dug for coal, looked at the home the cousins I'm staying with used to live in before they had to move out so their town could be dug up for coal, and went to a Russian supermarket. At the Eis Cafe, there was a man playing what I believe was the oboe, and it wad fantastic. My mom tipped him in USD like a boss. Then he played Yesterday by The Beatles.
Oh, and while waiting to board the plane we discovered that there was a family from the town next to ours on the same flight. They've lived for the past few years in Brussels, but it was still cool. I always imagine meeting people I know at the airort, and this was pretty close. And it was very helpful to have a face from home to help us out when we got out of the plane in Brussels and were like, "Where the hell do we go next?"
The organization of the blog post is awful. I'm so scatterbrained right now. I'm very tired, but I don't want to go to bed until a somewhat normal time. Meaning I'm staying up until at least six in the evening. I wish I could go on the internet.
Oh, man. You know you're an internet nerd when the thing you miss most is going on fanfiction.net and talking to your buddies on there. Missing you guys, District 14.
I think I need a boyfriend.
And now my mom is snoring. Yay. ._.
