Today we visited Schloss Burg an der Wupper, which is a castle near the Rhein river. It was a lovely museum. The paintings within the building were just breathtaking, as was the view. We had to ride a ski life to get there, which was another roller-coaster-like experience for my dear mother.
Despite the fact that the place was wonderful, it did get old as my back began to ache from standing and my stomach began to eat itself. It really was nice to see this window into the past, though. I tend not to be interested in history, but it was cool.
Lunch was...I have a lot to say about lunch. XD
The restaurant we went to had an interesting air about it. I think they themed part of the town to match the castle, and it was in that section. I don't know if that influenced the interior, but I'd say it probably did. The design had an olden-times air to it. So old, in fact, that the elderly seemed to be the demographic of the place. To be fair, the only other table I could see was filled with old people. So.
Speaking of these old people, I felt like they were staring at me. It was very awkward, and that coupled with the whole atmosphere of the place--music included--gave me the feeling that the woman was going to come over to our table and give me a prophecy. The music got all this-is-it when they stood up to leave, and I was seriously considering the option until they left the restaurant.
To take a line from John Green, the food was not as good as the prices implied. It was all salty, and the drink portions remained stubbornly small. I was full from my meat by dessert, but the "Frische Erdbeeren mit Eis" seemed appealing. It was an all around okay meal, with the dessert on its side.
On the way back, we took a shortcut across the river. Instead of taking the bridge, we drove onto a platform that the detached from the dock and floated us on over to the other side. The water made me wish I could jump in, and I can't wait to get to Poland, where we'll be staying at my grandmother's house--five minutes walk from the beach.
When we got home, we sat around for a bit before my mom and I left for a walk. We finally found the Aldi store, where my mom went to heaven. The Aldi we have at home is apparently no where near in comparison, but I've never been, so I wouldn't know. We bought an excess of tea, a box of tissues, some Kinder ice cream, a type of candy-thing, and flowers for my aunt as a thank you for putting up with us. I wish I lived within walking distance of a supermarket; it was fun.
A lot of the blogs I read keep track of something at the bottom. I talked about my new Pokemon game with Into and was inspired to keep track of some Pokemon-related things.
